一寸河山一寸血” ，该片的名称出自当年国民政府鼓励青年从军之语： “一寸河山一寸血，十万青年十万军”。该片从国军的角度描写了艰苦卓绝的抗日战争，影片大量采用真实的历史镜头，当年参战的抗日将士的采访回忆，有一个当年的普通士兵说：“我们没有坦克也没有火炮，全凭敢死队把炸药包绑在身上炸鬼子的坦克，一个人的牺牲换他一架（口误）”另一个说，“白天打仗我们不怕，就怕天黑听受伤的弟兄喊‘排长，连长’；可是他们在阵地的中央，谁也无法把他们救回来”一个当年的国军军官说，“我们武器太落后，机枪一个连只有3挺还常卡壳。全凭一股气和鬼子拚。”
